My previous receiver was a Pioneer VSX - 1021-K, and I had allot of HDMI handshaking issue's as well as a few other bugs that were very frustrating. Given all the issues I encountered with my previous receiver, I was hesitant to get another Pioneer. I am happy to say that I have NO issues with the VSX-1122-K at all! The handshaking issues are gone, and I have NOT encountred any bugs. The overall quality of the VSX-1122-K seems to be far superior to that of the previous model year. The Airplay feature is awesome and makes listening to my favorite music easy and convenient. The 2012 Icontrol application for the Ipad is very cool and allows you to turn up the bass or dilague during movies and TV shows without having to change any settings on the actual receiver. This model has a front HDMI port that allows me to hook up my HD video Camera without having to climb behind the TV stand with a flashlight. Pioneer... I received the receiver within 5 business days. The product was as described online. It was very easy to hook up to my tv, blu ray player and ps3. I did have some difficulty figuring out the air play. It seems to work best with Apple products such as the iPhone n iPad. But it does not work well with an older itouch and Android phones. I had to install Imedia server for my android phone to utilize an air play. Besides that the product works as described. I am very pleased. This is not to impress you, but so you know Bozo the Clown is not writing this review. OK- I was a Denon fan. I was a Marantz fan. Yamaha makes great stuff and you will most likely be happy with any "new toy" you buy ....but after extensive research I chose the Onkyo. 1. Why did I not go for a Denon? Denon's are great. However, over the past few years their overall quality and feel has declined. Simply put, the premium on their name no longer justifies their price. I own three Denon receivers so I am not slamming them. If your heart is set on a Denon look at the 1909. 2. Why did I not get a Marantz? My new Onkyo replaced my Marantz 5200. Marantz, back in the day made the best stuff (in my opinion). Then they went down hill and resurfaced strong... It is a super duper feature packed product. You get a lot of bells and whistles. Integrated amp has three main parts, 1) Power supply 2) Pre-amp, processor 3) AMP 1) Power Supply: 4/5 stars It is quite noisy and doesn't have very good isolation. There is no easy way to connect a external ground. Also the power rating for the entire unit is very deceiving. 100+ W while driving only the main two. In 7.1 it is probably 20 W per channel. 80x and 90x have far better power supply than this puppy. That is the main reason they are so heavy. There is also no easy way to replace the fuse to a noise free one. 2) Pre-amp, processor: 5/5 stars Number of input connections, hdmi control, all the DSP and format support. Wow Wow... there is no other receiver in this price range that handle it all. Dolby True HD, DTS, LPCM, TOS Link any thing you ever want is available here. One minor complaint is... This is my third Onkyo purchase and an upgrade from an Onkyo 700 I bought about five years ago. I bought this HTIB because it had everything I was looking for to go with my new HDTV. I wanted HDMI switching, low profile speakers I could mount on the wall, a powered subwoofer, a DVD player with HDMI and to improve the whole sound experience. This package had it all and at a pricepoint well below the systems I was trying to put together by hand. Being experienced with Onkyo and setting up HT systems of my own, I had little trouble getting this system setup. I wanted to "do it right" this time so I bought banana plugs to terminate the speaker wire (I did not use the wire that came with the system) which makes it SO MUCH easier to install. I read reviews, write ups, specifications, you name it I read it. I had settled on two other systems before deciding on this one because of its power, versatility and its compatibility. Setup - You will find that running the speaker cable (if you run it behind walls) is the hardest part of the installation. Once all of that is completed the rest is a breeze. Anyone that knows anything will tell you to run at least 16 AWG speaker cable instead of the wires they provide for you. I ran 14 AWG cable and the difference it makes is something that you will notice, especially if you compare the wires side by side. I would also recomend getting a decent Sub-Woofer Coax Cable. Hanging the speakers on the wall is a breeze. You do not need brackets or hangers of any kind. Simply mark the wall where the wire should come through and use an anchor and hand the... We are very happy with this Onkyo HT-SP908 7.1 system. Probably, the $2000-$3,000 systems are better, but this system is all most people will need. The discounted price helped make the decision for us. The iPod Dock works well for regular classic iPods and for iPod Nanos, but not for iTouch iPods. Some photos don't show the iPod dock, but it is included, and allows the user to play songs and videos in vivid color and vibrant sound on your flat screen TV/surround sound system. We also purchased a Sony 52" LCD HD-TV, an Apple-TV unit, and a Playstation 3. Both the AppleTV and the Playstation can access the Internet if you have a router/modem setup in your location. Together all these units really complement each other, and provide a true home theater experience. The HD channels are an excellent video and audio experience, and every day more stations and channels are switching over to HD.
