Product Description
If you're in the market for a cutting-edge receiver, but are limited in terms of budget, look no further than Onkyo's HT-RC460. With eight HDMI inputs and two outputs, this receiver integrates all your A/V components, decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats, and supports 3D video. HDMI enables an ARC for TV with surround sound, and allows Quick Set-Up menus to be overlaid instantly mid-program. Analog video is upscaled to 1080p-or 4K with compatible display-by onboard Qdeo technology. An MHL/HDMI connects smart phones for display of 1080p videos and photos, and there's a USB for iPod and iPhone. InstaPrevue technology simplifies content selection, and you can control the home theater-including playback in Zone 2-with your iPhone or Android phone. Wireless-capable networking adds internet radio, audio streaming, and access to all your computer-based music collections. Audio performance is perfected with Audyssey 2EQ, Dynamic EQ, and Dynamic Volume. Dolby Pro Logic IIz can expand stereo sources and 5.1 soundtracks to include additional Front Height channels. Keen pricing leaves room in the budget for a second subwoofer, allowing you to experience the astonishing depth and realism of an Onkyo 7.2-Channel system.

I found Onkyo's HT-RC460 to be exactly what I needed to power up and manage our living room media center. It has the ability to control everything physically connected to it and it seamlessly reaches out to other devices on our home network and beyond, to the Internet. The temptation to go over every single feature I am aware of is strong but receivers have become complex, multi-featured machines and there's a 140 manual that does that. I will therefore talk about what the HR-RC460 did as I tested it and what I found impressive or not so much, useful or less so, feature-rich or overwhelmingly complex or complicated. This could mean that I may not speculate about features that some may find worth discussing at some length and accept it as inevitable but I wasn't able to test hands-on. My hope is that the setup I used for my test drive is not unlike what most typical users are likely to have. The HT-RC460 was as a 7.1 surround system. I did not set a second zone. Directly... I called to have it replaced under warranty, and they do not offer this. You must send the unit off at your cost, to one of authorized electronics repair stores which can take two to four weeks and encounter shipping and insurance expenses out of your pocket $80.00 do you really need this??? Plus warranty customers service is rude and inpatient, I tried to express my dissatisfaction and they hung up.In the meantime, how the heck are you supposed to power your media system? This may be a great product, but beware, if anything goes wrong you have no receiver for a month. Plus time consuming for packing and shipping not worth it. I'm a believer: this Onkyo receiver has made me a lifetime customer. Crammed with next-generation audio and video features, this receiver ensures technology won't pass me by quickly. Based on my experience with the brand's durability, I'm confident the Onkyo HT-RC460 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver will serve us well for years.Upgrading from our Onkyo HT-R530 7.1 Channel Surround Sound Receiver that has delivered many years of excellent service - we've moved twice since our purchase - I was happily surprised by the quantity and variety of improvements and inputs Onkyo has added to its receivers. Our older unit didn't have HDMI inputs, but we configured a workaround using a... Read more |
